Anthropologie Watercolor Dress

It’s Monday, so that means a day date with the Hubs. We are planning on going out for a drink and then seeing Ghostbusters. I’m really not digging on them making a remake, but I’ll give it a go.

This Anthropologie dress is perfect for either daytime or nighttime. Dress it up, or dress it down, it will still look fabulous. Oh, and it’s silk, too, so I won’t sweat to death in the Kansas heat and humidity. And it’s soooo pretty, like a watercolor painting! I paired it with simple black sandals. I wanted the dress to speak for itself. Well, I’ll keep this short. Gotta get to the movies!

Hiatus Kaiyote

I’ve known about Hiatus Kaiyote for about a year, but I’ve only had this blog for a couple weeks, so I’m actually surprised I haven’t shouted from the rooftops sooner about them. If you love elements of jazz and funk, you will like this band a whole lot. Even if you don’t I would give them a shot anyway. So creative. I’m all about their tempo and key changes. It’s something different to listen to as opposed to strict rock structures. And let’s talk about Naomi AKA “Nai Palm.” Oh Lord that woman can sing and play guitar. Kinda have a girl crush on her. See for yourself here, herehere, and here!

Put Karl Lagerfeld on it!

I’m really happy about this heart ombre button down top from Target that I found at Goodwill. It use to have sleeves, but I cut them off because they were a little tight in the shoulders. Funny thing is when I went back to Goodwill I found the same top, but in a size up. Now I have one that’s sleeveless and one that isn’t! Bonus! The dress is a great find too. The embroidery is pretty and delicate. I don’t usually gravitate towards the softer romantic colors, I’m more of a bold colors kind of gal, but I couldn’t pass this up. One needs to step outside the box once in a while. My gladiators I found at Forever 21 and one of the best items I’ve purchased. I get so many compliments on them it’s crazy. I also had a lady who wanted to buy them off me. I’m pretty sure we weren’t the same size. Bag is kate spade that I got on super sale. Love their 75% off sales! I added a Karl Lagerfeld key chain because nothing says fashion like the head designer and creative director of Chanel in key chain form. I love you, Karl!

Wax Idols

I’m loving L.A. based band Wax Idols. Their album American Tragic is on constant repeat lately. Goth meets New Wave meets pop. Gotta love it. You could easily find some of their more pop based songs in a John Hughes movie as well as in present day movies. Some of their songs like Lonely You have a timeless feel to them. You can check out Lonely You here and Deborah here!

Hello there!

Hi! I’m Kari and I’m a girl on a budget who loves fashion, music, and the city she lives in, Kansas City. Not only is this blog a creative outlet for me, but it’s also dedicated to the girl/woman who isn’t afraid to be herself. She is who she is and loves what she loves and makes no apologies for it. This isn’t a site where you will find the latest trends, although, you may find some of them on here. But, it’s about working with what you have, being as creative as you can be with what is on hand. I hope you enjoy what I post and may it inspire you to step outside the box!
